Tails of Leo keeps your pets' health records so that you and the vets you choose can see them. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use advertising cookies. We count visits with Google Analytics only if you allow it. This page says what we keep, who can see it, and how to change or delete it.

Who we are

Tails of Leo is run from India. We are responsible for the personal data in the app under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Write to us at hello@tailsofleo.com about anything on this page.

What we keep

If you have a pet:

  • Your name, email, phone number, city, PIN code and address, how clinics should reach you, and your photo, if you add them.
  • Your password, stored only in a scrambled form that we can't read. If you use Sign in with Google, the link to your Google account.
  • Your pets: name, kind of animal, breed, sex, birthday or age, weight, colour, anything a vet should know, and their photos.
  • Your bookings, and the files you upload, such as lab reports and photos of prescriptions.

What your vet writes: visit notes, vitals, health status, allergies and long-term conditions, prescriptions, vaccines and follow-ups.

If you run a clinic: your name, title, email, phone, registration numbers, specialty, experience and fee; the clinic's name, address, phone, hours and booking rules; and the patients and records you add.

Also, for everyone:

  • When a vet opens a pet's record, so you can see who looked.
  • Sign-in attempts, with the email and network address used, kept for one day to stop password guessing.
  • A note when someone opens booking or uses a code from their vet, which we only ever read as weekly totals, never person by person.

Who can see it

  • You see everything about your pets.
  • A vet can see a pet once you book with them, or once you take the pet to their clinic and they register it. They then see that pet's whole record, including visits, vaccines, prescriptions and files from other clinics, and your name and phone number so they can reach you.
  • You can see which vets can open each pet's records and when they last did, and withdraw access, under Profile, Privacy and your data. What a vet has already written stays with them as their record of the care they gave.
  • Nobody else. Clinics can't see pets they haven't been given, and other pet parents can't see yours.

A few people who run Tails of Leo can reach the data to keep the app running and to answer your requests. We look at records only when you ask us to, or when the law requires it.

Services we use

We use these companies to run the app. Each handles data only to do this job for us.

  • Supabase holds the database, in Mumbai, India.
  • Vercel runs the website and the app's server.
  • Cloudinary stores photos and the files you upload.
  • Resend sends our emails: links to confirm your address or reset your password, and a short note after your pet's visit (which you can switch off in Profile). It sees your name, your email address and the message, which never holds a diagnosis or a medicine.
  • Google handles Sign in with Google, if you use it, and serves the app's icons.
  • Google Analytics counts visits to the website, only if you allow it (see Cookies, below).
  • Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights count visits and measure how fast pages load, without cookies (see Cookies, below).
  • Sentry tells us when something breaks. Pet, owner and health details are removed before a report leaves our server.

Some of these companies may process data outside India.

Cookies and your device

Two cookies keep you signed in: one holds your session, and one says whether you have a pet or run a clinic, so the right app opens. A third remembers your answer to the cookie notice. These need no permission, because the app can't work without them.

Google Analytics, only if you allow it. The first time you visit, we ask. If you tap Allow all, or switch Analytics on under Manage cookies, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (their names start with “_ga”) to count visits: which pages are opened, roughly where from, and on what kind of device. We send it the page's address with codes, ids and anything after a “?” removed, so it never learns your name, your pets, their records or your codes. Google's advertising features are switched off. If you leave Analytics off under Manage cookies, nothing from Google Analytics loads at all.

Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights, no cookies. Our host, Vercel, also counts visits and measures how fast pages load: which pages are opened, how long they take to appear and respond, roughly which country they come from, and the kind of browser and device. As with Google Analytics, we send them the page's address with codes, ids and anything after a “?” removed. Neither sets cookies, so they do not ask for your permission and are not affected by the choice above.

You can change your answer at any time: . Saying no later also removes the Google Analytics cookies from this browser.

While you are signed in, your browser also keeps your name and photo so pages open quickly, and a draft of any form you are typing, so nothing is lost if your session ends. These stay on your device and are cleared when you sign out.

Clinics on Find a vet

So that pet parents can find a vet near them, we keep a list of veterinary clinics in the cities we serve. It comes from our own research and public records, and holds what a clinic shows the public: its name, area, city, address and phone number. Nothing about the clinic's staff or patients.

A clinic on the list that is not on Tails of Leo is shown to pet parents nearby, marked “not on Tails of Leo yet”, with buttons to call it and to find it on a map. Nobody can book it through us. A clinic that joins is checked against the list by our team before pet parents can book it.

If your clinic is on the list and you would rather it wasn't, write to us at hello@tailsofleo.com or use this form. We take it off, and it stays off.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open.

You can close your account under Profile, Privacy and your data. You then have 30 days to change your mind: signing in again cancels it. After that we delete your details, photos and uploaded files, and any pet with no vet history. A pet with vet history stays in the records of the clinics that treated it, under “Former owner”, with none of your contact details.

To close a clinic account, write to us at hello@tailsofleo.com: its records belong to other people's pets, so we agree with you where they go.

Your rights

  • See and correct your details and your pets' in the app at any time.
  • Withdraw a vet's access, or close your account, in the app.
  • Ask us for a copy of your data, or for anything else on this page, at hello@tailsofleo.com.
  • Name someone who can act for you if you die or can no longer act yourself.
  • If we don't resolve a complaint, you can take it to the Data Protection Board of India.

We reply to every request within 30 days.

Age

You need to be 18 or older to make an account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects what we do with your data, we tell you in the app before it applies.
